Showcasing Sowetan arts and culture

Through Phaphama-Miracle Arts Lab, Phaphama’s most recent initiative, in addition to offering tours and homestays, we are able to offer opportunities for local and international visitors to experience Sowetan arts and culture. Visitors can:

- See performances by established and aspiring artists from Soweto (ranging from theatre, to music, to dance);
- Take part in a drumming workshop;
- Take part in gumboot dancing workshop.

Where these are not part of an existing programme, we can arrange these for visitors, especially for large groups.

Phaphama-Miracle Arts Lab is the division of Phaphama Initatives that ensures, through arts and culture development, self-growth, self-actualization and poverty alleviation among youth in Soweto.

Phaphama-Miracle Arts Lab has been made possible through the generous support of The Herman van Veen Foundation and INTERACTIONS SA-NL, an arts and culture programme of Theater Instituut Nederland and Music Centre The Netherlands supported by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Stichting Balls, Amsterdam, has been responsible for the Dutch artistic residency for the performances in June and July 2010.

Part of your fee contributes towards the ongoing development and sustainability of the Phaphama-Miracle Arts Lab.
